Getting the Best Burger in Clearwater/St. Pete

It’s almost agonizing when you’re craving the perfect burger, but have so many choices you don’t know where to look first.

Visit St. Pete/Clearwater felt your pain and put together a list of the top spots to find a delicious burger. Who really has the best burger? It all depends what you want. When that food craving hits during your next visit to Bamboo Beach Club Resort, check out a few of our favorites.

Pete & Shorty’s, Clearwater & Pinellas Park locations

You’ll feel like you’re at your own neighborhood bar in this small-town tavern-like restaurant. They happen to be from Iowa, but you don’t have to be a Midwesterner to get into the popular char-grilled burgers. Plenty of meat sandwiches and plates (like meatloaf and shepherd’s pie) round out the hearty menu. Every Friday is their Friday Fish Fry with crispy Alaskan Pollock.

Engine No. 9, St. Petersburg

This small space fills up fast, so you might want to get it to go if you’re in a hurry or if it’s peak meal time. Engine No. 9 features a menu of gourmet burgers (like the Marie Laveau with crawfish tails) along with a hot dog menu, entrees featuring short ribs, salmon and ravioli, and some interesting starters like crispy duck wings. Salads featuring chicken, shrimp, caprese and more are also on the menu.

Rococo Steak, St. Petersburg

Probably more well known for being an upscale steak house, Rococo is also home to a couple award-winning burgers: The Black & Blue, with black Angus, blue cheese butter, tomato jam and brioche; and the Ahi Burger, with ahi tuna steak, gruyere, remoulade and brioche.

Tarpon Tavern, Tarpon Springs

The small-but-mighty Tarpon Tavern is a craft beer tap house and wine bar located in historic downtown Tarpon Springs on the Pinellas Trail. You’ll find great food and live entertainment inside and outside on the cobblestone courtyard. True to its local pub vibe, the menu includes the Guinness Burger with Guinness stout-infused gravy and a pretzel bun.

Sandbar Grill, Dunedin

It may not look like much, but Honeymoon and Caladesi Island visitors line up for this little spot on the Pinellas Trail for burgers, hot dogs, seafood and barbecue. The old Florida-style roadside beach shack has semi-indoor spots and outdoor spots, both great for enjoying the Gulf breeze. The menu is surprisingly varied, with wings, wraps, smoked seafood, chicken, soups and salads.

Whatever your pleasure, there is no shortage of sun, surf and spectacular food in the Clearwater area!
